Noveria: Espionage is an Assignment in Mass Effect. Noveria: Espionage is about helping Mallene Calis obtain information on Binary Helix. Assignments are secondary quests in Mass Effect, that are not mandatory to progress the game's story, but provide context and flavor by meeting interesting NPCs of all kind of Races, granting additional experience, and letting the player visit extraordinary and unique planets.

Noveria: Espionage Walkthrough

Once you talked to Mallene Calis. Approach Rafael Vargas, a salesman for Binary Helix. You can find him elsewhere in the bar. She gives you a device capable of inject monitoring viruses into Rafael Vargas' personal wireless network. She only needs you to approach him and distract him long enough. She also tells you about Vargas' "tell" when he becomes uncomfortable, he rubs the back of his neck. According to her, that is the perfect time to keep pressuring him.

You now have two clear options, the Paragon or Renegade routes.

Paragon Routes

• You can agree to help Mallene Calis, but tell him what she asked you to do. He is grateful and decides to feed Mallene false information. Return to Calis and tell her the truth. She will be upset and go off world as quickly as possibly fearing for her safety. You earn 2 Paragon Points and Experience points. 
• Don't agree to help Mallene Calis. You will get 8 Paragon points, but no experience points.
• Agree to help her, but before talking to Rafael Vargas, speak to her again and tell her you quit. You earn 2 Paragon points and experience points.

Renegade Routes

• Agree to help Calis, talk to Rafael Vargas and wait for his "tell". When he does it, press him further on the issue to distract him. Keep him talking, eventually the device will beep. Once it does, return to Calis to earn 500 Credits. If you Charm or Intimidate her, you get 750 Credits and 2 Renegade Points.
• Agree to help Calis, but tell Rafael Vargas about her plan.  He is grateful and decides to feed Mallene false information. Return to Calis and tell her the truth. State that both her and Vargas are irritating, she will be upset and go off world as quickly as possibly fearing for her safety. You earn 2 Renegade points.
• Agree to help Calis, but tell Rafael Vargas about her plan. Go back to Calis and lie to her to obtain your 500 Credits. You have the possibility to Charm or Intimidate her to obtain 250 more. You will also earn 9 Renegade points.

How to unlock Noveria: Espionage

• To obtain Noveria: Espionage, you will be called by an Asari called Mallene Calis when you enter the Port Hanshan Mezzanine for the first time. She works for the Armali Council and is trying to obtain information about Binary Helix.
