Investigate Shipments (or UNC: Espionage Probe) is an Assignment in Mass Effect. Investigate Shipments is about an old Alliance espionage probe that has turned up in the Voyager Cluster. Assignments are secondary quests in Mass Effect, that are not mandatory to progress the game's story, but provide context and flavor by meeting interesting NPCs of all kind of Races, granting additional experience, and letting the player visit extraordinary and unique planets.

Investigate Shipments Walkthrough

Head to Agebinium, and land. On your map you will find a label called "Alliance Homing Beacon", go there. When you reach the probe in the back of the mine, a trap by Elanos Haliat will be triggered.

If you selected War Hero as your Commander Shepard's Psychocological Profile, Elanos Haliat he will claim that this is his revenge for Shepard's responsibility in repelling the Skyllian Blitz, and sets the nuclear device on the probe to overload in order to kill Commander Shepard. If you selected any of the other two background, Haliat will still set off the bomb but as a form of revenge against the Alliance. You have ten seconds to disable the bomb before it goes off.

To disable the bomb you have to disarm three hard points on the probe. Each one involes a mini-game or costs 100 omni-gel each. These mini-games have a much longer sequence than the regular ones and progress more slowly. After the bomb is disabled, you'll discover that the way you came in is now blocked. You can now access the other airlock, so open it. Make sure to grab the upgrade kit right inside the door before you escape the mine to return to the surface. You will find Elanos Haliat and his criminal friends over the next rise. Take them down to end the Assignment.

How to unlock Investigate Shipments

To obtain Investigate Shipments you can simply enter the Amazon system of the Voyager Cluster, or by hacking a terminal inside Borealis in Zhu's Hope, on Feros. Admiral Hackett comms you to inform you about the probe.
The entry label becomes UNC: Espionage Probe upon accepting Hackett's orders.
