UNC: Besieged Base is an Assignment in Mass Effect. UNC: Besieged Base is about a group of Biotic fanatics that have taken over a medical station. Assignments are secondary quests in Mass Effect, that are not mandatory to progress the game's story, but provide context and flavor by meeting interesting NPCs of all kind of Races, granting additional experience, and letting the player visit extraordinary and unique planets.

UNC: Besieged Base Walkthrough

Head to Chohe, in the Cacus system of the Hades Gamma cluster. Once you land, head southwest of your starting position and enter the base. You have to save a team of scientists, so it is advised to save your game now if you are attempting the full Paragon ending with no civilian casualties.

You will find several biotics in the main chamber, but some will be waiting at the main tunnels. However, they will only enter the main chamber of you get close enough to them or if you move from the cover around the entrance to the room. The Enemies are not as hard as other Biotics you have already faced, the presence of the scientists complicates things and may wander into the line of fire. There will be a notification of the number of scientists remaining, and when one is killed, a notification will appear showing how many are dead.

Try to lure the biotics out of the main chamber and into the tunnel to the entrance chamber, as away from the scientists as possible. Scientists don't tend to go there, but watch your fire, just in case. The Biotic Terrorist Leader, on the other hand, tends to stay behind the barricade at the other end of the main room, so you may have to go after him.

Once you have killed the biotics, you will receive a message depending on the number of scientists that survived the confrontation. In the main chamber, you can find a medical kit on the pillar to the right of the main entrance. There's also loot in the back rooms, head there to get three crates from each room. Finally, you can find a malfunctioning object in the entrance chamber. Once you are done, return to the Normandy.

When you are back in your ship, use the Galaxy Map to talk to Admiral Hackett and complete the Assignment. He will give you his approval depending on the amount of Scientists that you managed to save. Once the conversation is over, you earn the corresponding Morality Points.

If you kill between 1-4 Scientists you earn 8 Paragon points.
If all the scientists survived you earn 24 Paragon points.
If 5 or more scientists are killed, you earn 9 Renegade points.

How to unlock UNC: Besieged Base

To obtain UNC: Besieged Base you have to hit 80% Paragon or 90% Paragon if you had attained 80% Renegade first. You are contacted by Admiral Hackett, who explains the situation and points you towards Chohe, in the Cacus system of the Hades Gamma cluster.
