Investigate Facility (or UNC: ExoGeni Facility) is an Assignment in Mass Effect. Investigate Facility is about a distress signal from a small cluster research facility. Assignments are secondary quests in Mass Effect, that are not mandatory to progress the game's story, but provide context and flavor by meeting interesting NPCs of all kind of Races, granting additional experience, and letting the player visit extraordinary and unique planets.

Investigate Facility Walkthrough

Head to Nodacrux, which is located in the Vostok system of the Maroon Sea cluster. Once you land, you will find Thorian Creepers throughout the area. You don't have to kill them if you don't want to, but there are lockers nearby for you to loot. Head to the exclamation point on the map and enter the facility.

Once inside, grab the upgrade kit on the table ahead of you, and obliterate all the Thorian Creepers. Once destroyed, head to the back to the facility and rescue the Scientists in the room to the left. On the right, there are two storage lockers, a sludge canister, and a crate with loot. Grab them before talking to the Scientists.

Dr. Ross, the one in charge of the facility, will talk to you. Once you tell him what you did on Feros, Ross will stop lying and tell the truth. To avoid being reported to the authorities, Dr. Ross will attempt to bribe you. If you reject the offer and decide to arrest them, they will fight you along with a group or Mercenaries.

You can get:

You gain 8 Paragon Points for saying "I can't do that"
You gain 9 Renegade Points for saying "I should kill you right now!"
You gain 6000 Credits for accepting the bribe.

Before leaving, grab the Technician Kit, the Wetware Kit, the Malfunctioning object and the Medi-Gel from the Aid station. Also, revisit the other rooms if you skipped some crates. Keep in mind that if you accept the bribe, you end up outside of the facility unable to search the room.

How to unlock Investigate Facility

You can obtain Investigate Facility after landing in Nodacrux, if you missed it after completing Feros.
To obtain Investigate Facility at Feros you must decrypt a console in the cargo bay of the ExoGeni facility. Once you travel to Nodacrux, the Assignment updates to UNC: ExoGeni Facility.
