UNC: Missing Marines is an Assignment in Mass Effect. UNC: Missing Marines is Admiral Kahoku has asked you to find a missing recon team in the Sparta System. Assignments are secondary quests in Mass Effect, that are not mandatory to progress the game's story, but provide context and flavor by meeting interesting NPCs of all kind of Races, granting additional experience, and letting the player visit extraordinary and unique planets.
UNC: Missing Marines Walkthrough
Land on Edolus, located in the Sparta System of the Artemis Tau cluster and follow the distress call, directly north of your landing zone. You will eventually find a M29 Grizzly, several dead marines and a transmitter. Approach the site slowly and cautiously because as soon as you get close enough, a Thresher Maw will attack you. Be aware, and do not draw too close in the Mako or else, it will crush you.
You can deal with the Thresher Maw either on foot or from the Mako from a distance. You can use the common Mako strategy to deal with it. Damaging it using the vehicle and finishing it off on foot. Once the Thresher Maw is defeated, one of your teammates that someone deliberately placed the transmitter there to lure the marines to their death. Go back to the Normandy.
Return to Admiral Kahoku to complete this Assignment.
How to unlock UNC: Missing Marines
There are three ways to obtain UNC: Missing Marines:
- Speak to Admiral Kahoku after becoming a Spectre. He will explain that his team is missing.
- The marine unit's distress call can be picked up independently if the Normandy approaches Edolus, in the Sparta System of Artemis Tau, even without speaking to Admiral Kahoku.
- If you have already completed Citadel: Doctor Michel Assignment and asked Captain Anderson about Armistan Banes. Anderson suggests you to speak to Admiral Kahoku.
