Virmire: Assisting Kirrahe's Team is an Assignment in Mass Effect. Virmire: Assisting Kirrahe's Team is about imrpoving Captain Kirrahe and his team chances of survival during the attack on Saren's base. Assignments are secondary quests in Mass Effect, that are not mandatory to progress the game's story, but provide context and flavor by meeting interesting NPCs of all kind of Races, granting additional experience, and letting the player visit extraordinary and unique planets.

Virmire: Assisting Kirrahe's Team Walkthrough

There are four different activities that must be completed in order to improve the team's chances of survival. You will hear them via radio comm by Ashley Williams, Kaidan Alenko or Captain Kirrahe himself. These actions must be performed in the order they are presented, you can go back and complete a missed task but it will have no effect whatsoever.

Disrupt Communications

When you are attacking the first Geth station, you will find a Geth control panel on top of the platform. Activate it to disrupt their communications.

Destroy the Satellite Uplink

On top of the second station, past the Geth Rocket Drones, you will find a satellite dish. Shoot it, or use Singularity or Throw to destroy the dish.

Destroy the Geth Flyers

While you are nearing the base, you will be alerted by Ashley or Kaiden about the Geth Flyers. Circle around the facility, to the right you will find the fuelling platform, hit the fuel tanks to destroy the flyers.
Deciding to destroy, or not, the Geth Flyers is the factor that determines if Captain Kirrahe lives or dies. If you don't destroy them, although you complete the rest of the tasks in the Assignment, he will inexorably die.

Disable the Alarms

Once you enter the base, you get two options regarding the alarms systems protecting the base. You can either disable the alarms or trigger them at the other side of the base as a diversion. Selecting the first option, is a more difficult path for you with much more fighting involved. On the other hand, the second option, makes it easier, but send the enemy forces towards Captain Kirrahe's team.

Once the Assignment is over, when you reach the lower levels of the Normandy next to Wrex, you will see a group of Salarians. If Captain Kirrahe survived, he will be there among them.

How to unlock Virmire: Assisting Kirrahe's Team

You obtain Virmire: Assisting Kirrahe's Team automatically when Captain Kirrahe contacts you and would appreciate any help to undermine and frustrate the Geth resistance he and his team are facing.
