Talent Effect Improves the amount of damage your armor can absorb and at level 7 allows you the use of Heavy Armor. 

Combat Armor is a Talent in Mass Effect. Combat Armor is a talent that belongs to Combat Talents and is available to Soldier and Krogan Battlemaster Classes. Talents are the more general skill areas in which a character excels and a part of your Character’s build linked to your class. As you progress through the game, you will also be able to unlock specializations that give you added bonuses

 

Combat Armor Description

Improves the amount of damage your armor can absorb and at level 7 allows you the use of Heavy Armor. Activates the Shield Boost ability that restores your shields in combat.

 

Combat Armor is available for the following classes

1 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 5%. -
2 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 8%. - 
3 Restores a portion of your shields, even when under fire.  Unlocks Shield Boost ability.
4 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 10%. For Krogan Battlemaster class unlocks Fitness talent.
5 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 12%.  -
6 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 14%. For Soldier class unlocks First Aid talent.
7 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 16%. Allows the use of Heavy Armor.
8 Increases shield regeneration capability. Unlocks Advanced Shield Boost ability.
9 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 18%. -
10 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 19%. - 
11 Increases damage reduction and hardening by 20%. - 
12 Maximum increases to shield regeneration capability. Unlocks Master Shield Boost ability.
